VRF Launches Key Senate Race Fundraising Campaign

Virginia Republican Fund Posted on September 18, 2019 by cmmarstonSeptember 18, 2019

Nancy Dye, Western Vice-Chair, and Chris Marston, Eastern Vice-Chair, of the Republican Party of Virginia, are launching VRF’s first campaign to support candidates in 5 key Virginia State Senate Races. Join them in contributing here.

DONATE NOW

Today, there are just 20 Senate Districts represented by Republican incumbents. These five races are critical to ensuring that Republicans emerge from the November election with at least 21 seats and control of the Senate:

  • Elizabeth Lankford is challenging Democrat Lynnwood Lewis for the seat once held by disgraced Gov. Ralph Northam. This is our best opportunity to pick up a seat currently held by a Democrat. An Eastern Shore native, Elizabeth owns the Blue Crab Bay Company, and would be an outstanding representative for the people of Accomack, Mathews, Northampton, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach in Senate District 6.
  • Jen Kiggans is running for the open seat vacated by Sen. Frank Wagner and facing Cheryl Turpin, a Democrat in her first term in the House of Delegates. A Navy veteran who completed two deployments as a helicopter pilot in the Persian Gulf, Jen is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner with the skills and experience to represent the people of Norfolk and Virginia Beach in Senate District 7.
  • Glen Sturtevant, an incumbent Senator, elected in 2015, Glen faces Democrat Ghazala Hashmi. Glen’s close race in 2015 set spending records in Virginia. An Eagle Scout and practicing attorney, Glen is a model of servant leadership and deserves re-election by the people of Chesterfield, Powhatan, and Richmond in Senate District 10.
  • Siobahn Dunnavant, an incumbent Senator, elected in 2015, Siobahn faces Debra Rodman, a Democrat in her first term in the House of Delegates. An ObGyn, Dunnavant’s campaign slogan “Dunnavant Delivers” says it all about her medical practice and her record for the people of Hanover and Henrico in Senate District 12.
  • Geary Higgins, is running for the open seat currently held by retiring Sen. Dick Black and facing John Bell, a Democrat in his second term in the House of Delegates. Geary, a senior trade association executive, currently serves on the Board of Supervisors in Loudoun County and would continue to serve the people of Loudoun as well as their neighbors in Prince William in Senate District 13.

Supporters committed to ensuring a Republican Senate can make one contribution to support all five of these critical candidates through VRF. Contributions will be split five ways. All funds raised (less credit card processing fees) will be transferred to the campaigns at the end of each week.

Dye and Marston plan to launch a campaign in support of critical House of Delegates races soon.
